? GeexBox.org ? <64Mo ~8Mo 2.6.21.3 ? The GeexBox is a tiny OS that turns the EEE into a media center. It works with a menu like DVD player. Time to boot is really short (tested on SD-Card) and time to shutdown is a few seconds.
I noticed that the EEE not really shuts down, the power light keeps on. So shut it down with the power button.

Inserting information into the table

How to correctly update the table

If you are already using another distribution, please help keep the above charts current.

  • Please update the status date if you modify anything (Please use some international standard format, e.g. 2008-03-25 rather than the US format which will be misinterpreted in many other countries.)
  • Leave a question mark if you can't figure out what to say.
  • Include information about the support by the distribution. If needed, include the size informations.
  • ACPI = Advanced Configuration and Power Interface.
    1. Test Fn-F1, Fn-F2,…, Fn-F9.
    2. Test if sleep (suspend to ram) and hibernate (suspend-to-disk) work.
    3. Is the eee.ko module available or easy to compile for your distribution.
  • Bootup Time = time between booting the machine to the login screen. Turn off auto-login if needed.
  • To find out memory usage, type “free” (immediately after installation).
  • To find the disk usage, type “df” (immediately after installation).
  • To find the kernel version, type “uname -a”.
  • To find what window scaling is being used, type “xrandr”.

How to start editing this page

It is easy to enter the informations into the wiki. You do NOT need to understand DokuWiki, just leave the chart pattern alone and add a few words next to the distribution you are using.

  • Go register and/or login.
  • On this page, click “edit this page” (top left).
  • Find the name of your distribution. You'll see “| distribution_name |” which is the 1st column.
  • Enter text for 2nd column (which is today date), then a | .
  • Enter text for 3rd column and another | . Repeat until you fill in the last column (which is “Other Comments”). For line breaks, use a pair of backslashes.
  • Click “save” to see the results.

If you want to understand the table syntax for DokuWiki, see the Tables Section of Formatting Syntax.

FIXME If you are an expert on Dokuwiki, please modify the table (take out the last line and define the table width). And remove this line.
