Add icons with Coyotee’s AsusLauncher Advanced Editor (emeditor)

This tutorial is a walkthrough to add an icon for Coyotee’s AsusLauncher Advanced Editor (emeditor) to a sub-folder on the Easy Mode Settings tab. The principles can be used for other icons.

Start off by running emeditor from terminal (remember: Ctrl+Alt+t > emeditor > [ENTER])

  1. In the left hand column of emeditor you will see a list of names which correspond with the names of your tabs and a few more.
  2. Click on the word Settings in the left hand column. A little green arrow should appear next to the word Settings and in the right hand window you should now see a list consisting of the icons you can see on your Settings tab. Can you see the word Launch Tools below the word settings? If so, skip to step 4.
  3. Right Click on Settings. Select Add New. On the w indow that opens, next to Parent tab, select Settings; in the box next to Name: type Launch Tools; Click on the Icon tab at the top. Click on the drop down list next to Existing icon. Select an icon of your choice. The icon will be suitable if two pictures of the icon appear on the window. Click OK. You should now see the words Launch Tools appear below Settings.
  4. Click on the words Launch Tools. A little green arrow should appear next to it.
  5. On the right hand side of the big window, there are five buttons; click on the one with the + sign. In the window that appears, it should say Parent Tab: Settings/Launch Tools In the box next to Name (English): type EmEditor. Click on the tab that says Icon. Click on the drop down list and select an icon, emeditor if it exists otherwise choose any other suitable one. Click on the tab called Command. Leave the box called shortcut blank and in the box next to the word Command, type /usr/bin/emeditor; Press OK.
  6. Click on File. Select Save. Click on File again, select Exit. If you are asked if you want to save, say yes.
  7. Restart your PC. Go to the Settings Tab. You should now have an icon (sub-folder) called Launch Tools on it. Click on it. Inside you should have an icon for EmEditor and, if you click on it, you can add more icons, move them and remove them, using the buttons on the right.

Note: You always have to type the full path of the program you want to run in the command box. The path is often /usr/bin/.
