IceMC is a GUI utility that allows you to customize your IceWM start menu entries easily.
Requirements:
Installing IceMC
Download the IceMC debian package
icemc_0.2.4-3_i386.deb and save it in a convenient location like My Documents.
Open the File Manager (which can be found in the Work tab)
Browse to the location where you saved icemc_0.2.4-3_i386.deb
Right click icemc_0.2.4-3_i386.deb and select “Install DEB File…”
You will be asked to enter your administrator password. This will be the password of the account you created when first setting up your Asus EEE PC
IceMC will install and then you will be prompted with a package was successfully installed message.
Open Terminal from your start menu or by using the keyboard combination Ctrl-Alt-T
Copy the default start menu by typing
cp /etc/X11/icewm/menu /home/user/.icewm/
If you are asked to replace a file already existing press n for no as you already have this file and you may skip this step.
Now we can run IceMC for the first time you will need to use Terminal again and type
icemc
in lowercase.
IceMC will start and now would be a good time to make a nice start menu shortcut for IceMC (Items shown in red can't be found and are not displayed in the IceWM Menu).
Creating a shortcut to start IceMC
Open IceMC
Select File from the top left and click Open
Browse to /home/user/.icewm/
Select the file entitled “menu” and then click Open
Navigate to the location where you wish to place the shortcut in your start menu
Select the shortcut that is directly above the location where you wish to place your new shortcut
Select Edit from top left and click “Insert Application”
Name the shortcut IceMC
There is no icon for the IceMC program so you may leave this field blank
In the Exec box type “icemc” in lowercase without the quotes.
Save your changes by selecting File and clicking Save
Take a look at your start menu and you should find a nice new shortcut to IceMC
