If you prefer the older cruncheee 08.10.04 (no promise you can download the iso), the old page is at the EeeUser Cruncheee wiki page.

A CrunchBang installation running on an Asus EeePC 1005HA. UPDATE: As of 02/08/11, Statler, also refered to as CrunchBang 10, has been released. The new LiveCD Image is provided with either OpenBox or XFCE, each presented with either 32 bit or 64 bit alternatives.

Installation

You can download Crunchbang here, featuring either OpenBox or XFCE. (As of 02/07/11 the most recent version is Statler[10-20110207])

The ASUS EeePC series is mostly 32 bit based, but some of the newer models are built on 64 bit capable achitectures. Read up on your model before downloading.

EeePC specific installation guidelines can be found here and here, the latter is especially useful for people installing through a USB flash drive.

Pre-Installation BIOS setup

  1. Insert bootable liveCD/USB Flash Drive onto the appropriate medium.
  2. Turn on your EeePC.
  3. Press F2 to get into the BIOS.
    1. You can also press the ESC button to view the Boot Menu directly and choose your medium from there. Doing so will allow you to bypass the rest of this guide.
  4. If needed enable the USB port in the Onboard Devices Configuration.
  5. Under the Boot header, choose Boot Device Priority, and make it so your USB CD/Flash drive boots before the HDD.
  6. Save and exit.
  7. Your EeePC should then boot to the live session.
