====== Gparted LiveCD from USB stick ====== Here are some instructions ((From http://www.joshgerdes.com/blog/2007/09/06/run-gparted-live-from-a-usb-flash-drive)) for setting up a USB flash drive to run [[http://gparted.sourceforge.net/index.php|Gparted Live]] from a computer running Windows XP. - Download the latest Gparted Live CD ISO file from [[http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115843&package_id=173828]]. - Download the latest syslinux.exe file from [[http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/]]. The executable file can be found in the win32 directory of the zip archive. - Mount the ISO with your favorite virtual drive software. I use Daemon Tools which can be found at [[http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5]]. - Copy the following files from the ISO to the **root** of your USB flash drive (do not create folders on the flash drive): * ''gparted.dat'' * All files from the ''boot'' directory * All files from the ''syslinux'' directory - Open a command prompt and run **syslinux.exe -ma X:** (where X: is the drive letter of the USB flash drive). - Verify that the system file **ldlinux.sys** was created at the root of the USB flash drive (You may need to change the Windows Explorer view options to show 'hidden files and folders' and 'protected operating system files' in order to see the file). - Now your USB Flash Drive should be ready to boot from and run Gparted Live.
