====== Change your computer's name (the hostname) ====== When you first set up your eee pc, it'll have the name eee-yournat me (eg eee-johnsmith). The name of a computer is usually called the **hostname**, and it can be changed. It is best changed it in the Control Center. In Easy mode, open a console (ctrl-alt-T) and type ''sudo kcontrol''. In Advanced mode, it is in the start menu. The hostname can be found under Network > Network connections > Identification > Computer name. If the control center panels are greyed out, you'll need to click the "Administrator" button first. You can also change the hostname in the one-line text file ''/etc/hostname'', which will require a reboot to apply the changes. Additionally, the system will keep identifying itself to (wireless) networks with the old hostname, which you can change in ''/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.*.conf''. Changing the hostname in the control center will take care of this automatically and it doesn't require a reboot.
