====== Make Your EEEPC Look Like Vista Or Leopard ====== ---- Ever wanted to have the sleek look of vista and leopard on you eeepc? Well using this guide you can make your eeepc look like this: ---- ====== Giving a new look to EEEPC UI (a.k.a veeesta) ====== This approach doesn't install any additional software, just some wallpapers, icons and IceWM theme. Anyway, you can get a slicker look with just a few minor changes. {{ screenshot-firefox_taskbar-watermark.jpg?600 | veeesta}} The list of changes is: * wallpaper scaled from vista * ribbon background taken from vista * new icons * new IceWM theme * new Firefox Vista-aero theme * deletion of some icons from taskbar ====== Installing a new desktop manager ====== ===== Setup and usage ===== - 1.Install the xandros repostires, and peform a apt-get update using the terminal. (CTRL-ALT-T) - 2.Open up the terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+T - 3.Type in sudo apt-get install kicker ksmserver. - 4.Press Y if prompted. - 5.Now restart the eeepc, using the keys CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE. - 6.When the eeepc interface comes up, open the terminal again and type: apt-get install xfce4 - 7.When Prompted Type Y. - 8.Then restart - 9.Open up another terminal and type apt-get install gnome - 10.Press Y if prompted - 11.Near the end of the gnome install you will recieve an error, type dpkg --force-overwrite -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libvolume-id0_0.105-4_i386.deb - 12.Then type apt-get install gnome. - 13.A few minuites later it should have installed, to check type gnome-session, if it loads type xkill and click on one of the panels. - 14.Restart To launch gdm, to select them and login type: gdm (Username is: user Password is: (your root password) ===== Customizing Interface XFCE4 ===== - 1.Download this theme: http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php/Murrina-LiNsta+%28LiNsta+is+Not+Vista+%3B-%29?content=61068 - 2.Logout of xfce4 and open gnome, through gdm. - 3. Install the theme normally. - 4.Logout of gnome, and launch xfce through gdm. - 5.Open up settings and click appearance and click the theme. - 6.
